Raising child alone are accompanied by lots of responsibilities you shoulder. It may be stressful sometimes, dedicated mother understands how they will cope with the pressure, work to support their needs, so as having a quality time with your kids.
Unfortunately, being a single mom is entail of having work to sustain the needs of the family. Having to work all day long suffers your possible quality time with your kids. A situation between income and family life will always be present and choosing what needs to be prioritized is hard knowing that you shouldered all the responsibilities. However, knowing how to manage the challenges of a single mom will help you to raise a happy and healthy child on your own.
- Always show your love
You may feel tired from a long day of work, a simple way to show your love would be significant to your child. Praises that would cheer them up such as “good job” or “very good” every time they are commended at school will show unconditional love and support to your child.
- Create routines
Having regular routines such as bedtime bonding, have dinner together, prepare meal going to school will make you appreciated by your child. Also, take them out or have quality time every rest day will help your child knows how eager you want to spend the time to him or her.
- Find quality childcare
There is nothing wrong having a childcare especially if you need someone who is regular in taking care of your child. Look for a reliable quality childcare and don’t rely on elderly or your neighbors to look out for your child.
- Set limitations/House rules
Have it explained to your child the house rules or expectations that you want to be present in your household. This includes as speaking respectfully, piling up their toys after use, and limit the use of electronic gadgets. Through this, you will be able to teach them to be responsible, independent and disciplined.
- Take care of yourself
You may be fully loaded from responsibilities, always seek time to take care of yourself as you take care of your own child. Take a rest, eat a healthy diet, and get enough sleep would help you to perform your tasks even better. Also, having time to go out with your friends would chill you up and take you out from stress even at least few hours.
- Be optimistic
Be honest to your child if you are having hard times. This doesn’t mean that you are sharing the problems with them, but it is a good way to let them be aware of responsibilities in life. Just remind them that everything will be okay as long as you are together.
